'Between the Lines' is a 2D side-scrolling infinite runner where the player plays as Benie Lee, a doodle a child created in class. The goal is to travel as far as possible in the child's dream as Benie Lee without jumping or falling out of the paper and avoiding erasers. 'Between the Lines' was the winner of the Full Sail Game Maker Challenge produced by Maker Studios.

Title Theme:

The title theme music is a simple allegro piece. Starts of with just a xylophone and a snare drum and throughout the song more and more instruments come along to create a bigger sound.

Main music:

Once we enter the child’s imaginary world the main theme of the game starts off much like the menu music, very subtle and basic with again just a xylophone and a drumbeat. After a few lines a new, more developed version chimes in. This newer version includes strings, a new beat, a flute, and a synthesizer, which individually come in as you play throughout the game.

The Music

Death Sound: Keyori, made random  sounds with his mouth that were recorded and were programmed inside the game  to randomly play for any death.

Eraser sound: Eraser sound was the sound of a paper folded in half and rubbing each half with the other.

Score Screen sound: Everyone in the Giga Breakers team screamed out “Yay” and then that audio file was processed through Pro Tool’s Audio Suite’s plugin “Time Shift” in order to make it sound higher pitched. "Time Shift" takes an audio clip and depending on the setting you program it renders out a new sound file with the changes.

Walking sound: Walking sounds were actually just sounds of me doodling on paper.

Falling sound: Made with Jacob’s mouth, he literally whistled it.

Menu selection: Jake’s mouth.

Cymbal Transition: There is a cymbal played between the menu screen and the game. The cymbal makes the transition between these two pieces appear seamless. No matter how long or short you stay in the menu screen whenever you do decide to start the game this cymbal crash plays and enters you into the imaginary world without making a big disturbance to the music. It simply feels like it belongs there.
